We spent the morning at a local nursery selecting flowers for the baskets that line our back deck—a perfect way to kick off Easter weekend. I love planting those baskets; the bright colors catch your eye from the window as soon as you walk into our kitchen. The new flowers and green, green spring grass got me thinking about this photo, Bee in the lavender, which I snapped in my in-laws' backyard a few summers ago. I was so enamored with their full, bee-and-butterfly-attracting lavender shrubs that upon returning from their house, we headed to our farmers' market and bought several of our own. Now they've taken over the bed where we planted them, and we'll be able to harvest their florets soon. I hope this photo gives you happy thoughts of spring and summer weather to come!
